Years ago I was foolish and did not repay a loan to my local bank. I just let it go, and the bank got a CCJ against me. Now they are contacting me as I have a property and are saying they are going to get a charge against my home. Can they do this?

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately if the bank has a CCJ against you they can obtain an Enforcement Order and place a Charging Order against your property.

In most instances these Orders sit, and are paid when you sell the property.

How much do you owe? Can you afford to set-up a repayment plan?

It is very rare the bank would force the sale of your home, the Order is there to secure the bank’s interest in the future.
