I have written and posted recently and in the past about being in debt due to gambling. You can read those posts here.

Gambling is a very strong form of addiction, and can cause people to find themselves in debt trying to fund the addiction.

It was brought to my attention I have not posted anything regarding other addictions and debt, such as alcohol and drug addictions.

At the end of the day, an addiction is an addiction, and if someone needs to fund that addiction, they may use credit cards, take out loans, borrow from family and friends, sell their personal possessions, turn to crime, whatever it takes to get the money needed for that addiction.

The First Step

The first step is always to seek help for the addiction. The debt can be sorted!

The addiction takes priority.

Speak to your GP, go to some of the GA/Gamblers Anonymous sites, clinics for drug use, Alcoholics Anonymous, there is help out there is you want it.

A quick joke to lighten things up:

How many psychiatrists does it to take to change a lightbulb?

One…but the lightbulb must want to change.

You have to want to end the addiction. Once you take that step, we can sort out the debts.

You sort out the addiction, stop debting and borrowing, the debt issue is the easy part. Trust me! I can find solutions and options for you, and will.
